Mallow is a plant that has a lot of sticky stuff in it, called mucilage. The flowers have 10% mucilage and leaves about 7%. Mucilage is extremely soothing to any inflames part of the body, both outside and within. This includes dry coughs, colds, gastrointestinal upsets, stomach ulcers, and urinary tract infections. When your throat is so sore that you can’t drink water, you can drink mallow tea. Use organic mallow tea, or if you have mallow plant in your garden, make your own mallow tea. Put some of the dried or fresh flowers or leaves of the mallow plant in a cup of boiling water. Allow to infuse for about 5 minutes, then strain, pour out the tea. Drink a cup of tea 3 times a day when you need to soothe the digestion, or coughs and sore throats. |
